The battle of Poitiers was a battle during the Hundred Years War between the England and France. During the Battle, held on 19 September, 1356, the English delivered the second of three devastating defeat to the French forces, near Poitiers in France. The first defeat was at the Battle of Cr?cy in 1346; the second was the Battle of Agincourt, in 1415.
We have dubbed this sword after the name of the Battle of "Poitiers". This single handed medieval sword, in true 14th century fashion represents not only the general current of the blacksmiths and architecture of the latter part of the middle ages, but also of the artistic trend of the period in both kingdoms. The richly detailed guard and grip, coupled with the crisp lines of the diamond sectioned blade gives this gothic sword the character of the medieval weapons found during the gothic period.
The Poitiers is a very quick and responsive sword. At 2 lbs 5 oz. The sword will deliver considerable cutting damage while securing a deadly piercing ability. The Poitiers Gothic battle ready Sword is forged with 5160 High Carbon Steel blade of 30 inches and totals 37". A fine example of the single handed swords being used during the latter part of the middle ages.
