The primary purpose of greaves is to protect the tibia from attack. The tibia is a bone very close to the skin, and is therefore extremely vulnerable to just about any kind of attack. A blow to this region would render this leg useless there making the solider vulnerable. In addition to added protection for the shin the padded greaves cushion the leg from chaffing and irritation of metal armor. This set is made to last being constructed of cotton with a durable ecru canvas exterior this item is quality at its best. The closure is adjustable with steel eyelets and a cotton lace. The Shock Charge Medieval Padded Greaves Armor is a must have under a full set or partial set of metal armor. The standard size greaves fit almost all and dry cleaning is recommended.
