These gauntlets are padded gambeson mittens which are overlaid in a mesh of chainmail for a complete protection of the hand. The mild steel mail links are 17 gauge in thickness and have an internal diameter of 9mm. Half of the flat rings are riveted and these alternate with solid rings. They are stitched onto an arming mitten of thick cotton which is padded internally with cotton. The palms are lined with supple leather for easy gripping and movement.
