Their outer shell is fashioned from a rigid plastic to deflect impacts, while the interior is cushioned to absorb shocks and provide comfort during combat drills. Originally designed to slip into the knee pockets of specialized sparring pants, they can also be worn on their own thanks to an elastic strap secured with Velcro at the back.
