This HEMA Sparring Jacket is crafted specifically for longsword combat and other intense sparring disciplines within Historical European Martial Arts. Constructed from heavy-duty cotton rated at 350 Newtons, the jacket includes an inner lining and substantial padding designed to absorb and disperse the force of strikes. This padding strategy not only reduces the overall weight but also enhances breathability, essential during prolonged bouts. The front zipper is cleverly overlapped by an additional panel, creating a double layer of defense against thrusts aimed at the torso.
One notable feature is the integrated gorget, a protective piece that overlaps with the bib of a fencing mask to prevent thrusts from sneaking upwards beneath it. The gorget incorporates a padded plastic plate guarding the throat, and adjustable Velcro straps allow it to be positioned either at the collar’s back or across the shoulders. For those who prefer, it can also be worn underneath the mask’s bib. At the back, an adjustable webbing strap with Velcro enables the wearer to cinch the waist for a tailored fit, reducing excess fabric that might catch or hinder movement.
