The Full Mask Overlay by Red Dragon is crafted specifically for Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) practitioners seeking enhanced protection for their fencing masks. The rear head guard is composed of articulated rigid plastic plates, arranged to offer a balance between sturdy defense and freedom of movement,much like the segmented lames seen in medieval armor which allowed knights to maintain mobility without sacrificing safety. Beneath, a heavy-duty cotton hood is padded to absorb impacts, while a contoured hard plastic throat plate guards one of the most vulnerable areas, reminiscent of the bevor used in plate armor to shield the neck.
Ventilation is thoughtfully integrated with eight holes,four on each side,allowing heat to escape while maintaining coverage, a critical feature for the intense exertion of sparring. An adjustable webbing strap with Velcro secures the overlay comfortably, ensuring it stays in place during active bouts.
