Description
The barbute, also known as the celeta, emerged in 15th century Italy as a practical alternative to the more confining sallet helmet. Its design features extended sides that protect the neck and jaw, eliminating the need for a separate bevor or gorget. This open face celeta draws inspiration from an original piece housed in the Wallace Collection in London. It is forged from 14 gauge steel, offering solid defense while maintaining manageable weight. Inside, an adjustable leather liner and chinstrap ensure a secure and comfortable fit.
