12″ HEMA Sparring Gloves
These sparring gloves were developed alongside practitioners of Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) to offer practical hand protection tailored for weapons-based martial disciplines.
The design incorporates molded plastic plates over dense, shock-absorbing foam to shield the hands from impacts typical of blunt training weapons. The fingers benefit from overlapping finger plates that strike a balance between safeguarding and maintaining dexterity. The outer layer consists of a durable microfiber fabric, chosen for its resilience and breathability compared to more common synthetic leather coverings.
While primarily intended to protect against synthetic sparring weapons, these gloves are also employed by some groups training with blunted steel arms, acknowledging the increased wear that results.
Sizing: The gloves follow a sizing system similar to that used for lacrosse gloves. Generally, those who wear smaller glove sizes will find the 12″ gloves suitable, while larger hands will require the 13″ version.
