The Middle Ages Great Helm Iron Cross Armor Helmet is modeled after a popular style of head gear that entered the Middle Ages in the early 12th century and lasted through the 14th century. Characterized by a flat top, the Great Helm covered the whole head with openings only for the eyes and mouth. It was prominent among knights, especially those who fought in the Crusades such as the Knights Templar. Featuring 18 gauge steel construction, this authentic reproduction encompasses the head with a ventilated face guard that includes narrow eye slits. This piece offers excellent protection for the head, face, and front and back of the neck. It is highlighted by an iron Crusader cross which appears on the front. Further enhancement comes from a leather liner and adjustable chin strap with brass buckle which ensure a comfortable fit. With historical design and true medieval flair, this helmet is great for costumes, collections, and re-enactments.
