Description
The Red Dragon swords are crafted with blades forged from high carbon EN42J spring steel, a material known for its resilience and ability to hold an edge under demanding conditions. These blades have been carefully tempered to achieve a core hardness around 45 HRC, providing flexibility and toughness, while the edges reach approximately 50 HRC to maintain sharpness. The hilts are fashioned with steel guards and pommels inspired by authentic medieval designs, paired with wooden grips tightly wrapped in leather cord to offer a secure and comfortable hold. Each sword is accompanied by a wooden scabbard, also wrapped in leather for durability and period-appropriate appearance.
The Combat Bastard Sword in this series is modeled after a typical 13th-century longsword. Its broad, straight blade is optimized for slashing, reflecting the fighting styles of knights and men-at-arms from that era. The blade tapers to a fine 1mm edge, allowing it to cut effectively when sharpened. This edge profile makes the sword suitable for Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) practice, particularly for drills rather than full-contact sparring, and for stage combat, though users should expect minor surface nicks over time due to the thinness of the edge. For safety during training or theatrical use, it is advisable to round off the tip to reduce the risk of accidental injury.
