Description
At a recent auction, we came across this straightforward and rugged fighting knife, a true testament to the practical tools forged for combat in its time. Its double-edged blade speaks to a design focused purely on effectiveness rather than ornamentation. The original bore the name J.A. Hauser on the back of its sheath, believed to be a member of the US Navy ARGUS Unit 12,an elite group operating under demanding conditions.
Our reproduction features a hardwood handle shaped for a firm grip, steel fittings, and a high carbon steel blade forged with a full tang to ensure strength and durability. This blade is built to endure the harsh realities of close-quarters fighting, reflecting the resourcefulness required when far from established armories. While it holds appeal for the military enthusiast, it remains a functional piece designed to perform where it counts.
Fun fact: Many World War II fighting knives were fashioned in the field by soldiers using whatever scrap metal and tools they could find, proving that even in the harshest conditions, necessity forged weapons as sharp as the resolve of the men who wielded them.
