Description

In the forge, every sword begins as raw metal, and this one is no exception. The carbon steel used here is carefully selected straight from the source, chosen for its strength and resilience. The blade is shaped using traditional forging methods, hammering and folding the steel to build a weapon that can withstand the rigors of battle. This double-edged blade remains unsharpened from the factory to ensure safety, but it can be expertly sharpened to bring out its true cutting potential.

Running down the center of the blade is a pronounced ridge, a design feature that adds rigidity and helps the sword keep its balance during combat. Near the base, the handle is wrapped in vinyl leather, stitched in the traditional manner to provide a secure grip. The crossguard stretches just over ten inches wide and includes an original-style chappe, or rain guard, designed to protect the hand from the elements and glancing blows.

The blade is firmly seated into a solid wooden handle, also wrapped and stitched with vinyl leather to ensure a steadfast hold. At the pommel, a weighted, chrome-plated piece with a satin finish balances the sword’s considerable length, allowing for better control and momentum during swings.

William Wallace, a towering figure in Scottish history, wielded such swords as he led his forces to victory at the Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297. Known as the Guardian of Scotland, Wallace’s legacy is woven deeply into the nation’s heritage. The two-handed sword associated with him was notable in its day for its reach and power, proving a fearsome weapon on the medieval battlefield.
