Description
Here we have a true drinking horn fashioned from real antler, a vessel that would have graced the feasting halls of the Norse. Forged by skilled hands at Windlass Steelcrafts, the horn is fitted with pewter mounts, free from nickel and silver-plated,to secure and reinforce the rim and base. This horn holds a modest measure of your chosen drink, much like it would have in a Viking mead hall. It rests upon a carved pewter stand, also silver-plated, designed to keep the horn upright when not in use or during refilling, reminiscent of the practical mounts used in days of old. You’ll find natural variations and slight imperfections in the antler, these tell the story of genuine horn, shaped by fire and hammer. Few things summon the spirit of the Vikings more than raising a horn to your lips and sharing a toast among comrades.
Fun fact: While Vikings never wore horned helmets into battle, drinking horns were a common and honored part of their feasting traditions, often used to celebrate victories and sacred rites.
