Description
These Marine Corps swords are forged by Windlass Steelcrafts and carry full approval from the US Government’s Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). The DLA Troop Support manages large-scale contracts for all branches of the armed forces, conducting thorough inspections to ensure each sword meets stringent government specifications. These inspections emphasize the swords’ durability and serviceability, qualities essential for equipment issued at the unit level where dependable gear is critical. It’s worth noting that the DLA’s mission is distinct from that of MarCorSysCom, though both organizations play important roles without overlap.
This particular model features a 32″ blade length, the only size currently produced. Other lengths such as 26″, 28″, 30″, 34″, and 36″ are not currently made. Each sword is paired with the government-specified scabbard, designed to guard the blade during field use or ceremonial duties. As a supplier to the Marine Corps and respected military academies like Citadel, Marion Military Institute, Fork Union Military Academy, and West Point, Atlanta Cutlery supports the needs of both future officers and enlisted personnel. When equipping your unit or institution, you can trust that these swords are crafted and handled with the respect that their heritage demands.
Fun fact: The US Marine Corps Non-Commissioned Officer Saber, carried by corporals and sergeants, features a distinctive brass hilt and was originally designed in the early 20th century to symbolize leadership and tradition within the Corps.
