Description
The United States Dragoons Saber was the trusted companion of the 1st and 2nd US Dragoon Regiments, wielded through the dust and turmoil of the Second Seminole War, the South-West Indian Wars, and the Mexican War.
This saber’s blade is forged from tempered 1065 high carbon steel, shaped in the “pipe back” style,a flat spine running along the blade’s length that lends both strength and flexibility. The blade bears an engraved “United States Dragoons” inscription, marking its proud service. Its guard, cast from solid brass, features three branches designed to protect the hand while allowing swift, fluid movement. The grip is fashioned from wood, tightly wrapped with black leather and accented by a brass twist wire for secure handling in the heat of battle. A steel scabbard with hanging rings completes the piece, ready to be worn by cavalrymen on the move.
Fun fact: The U.S. Dragoons Saber’s design influenced cavalry sabers used during the American Civil War, reflecting a blend of practicality and tradition that carried riders through decades of conflict.
