Description
The flat cap was a staple of headwear from the late 15th to early 16th century, worn by men and women across many walks of life. Its low, rounded crown and short, stiff brim made it a practical choice for daily use. These caps were commonly made from wool, felt, or finely woven fabrics, suited to the climate and available materials of the time.
This reproduction reflects the style of that era, available in deep Black, warm Chocolate Brown, vibrant Red, or stately Navy Brocade. Small metal grommets on either side of the cap allowed for the attachment of a plume,a favored adornment during the Tudor Renaissance. These plumes were not merely decorative; they could indicate social standing or personal preference, adding a touch of individuality to the otherwise modest cap.
M (fits head circumference approximately 22 1/4 inches, size 7-1/8)
L (fits approximately 23 1/4 inches, size 7-3/8)
XL (fits approximately 24 inches, size 7-5/8)
Fun fact: In Tudor England, sumptuary laws strictly controlled the fabrics and decorations one could wear, so adding a plume to a flat cap was a clever way to express rank or loyalty without overstepping legal boundaries.
