Description
These chainmail voiders are panels of dome-riveted titanium flat rings. Being made of titanium they weigh much less than normal steel rings with a weight more comparable to aluminum instead of heavier steel. Unlike aluminum however, the rings are as strong as steel.
Voiders are used to fill in the gaps between plate armor or to improve the defense of a gambeson or leather armor. On plate armor it is placed where plate is impractical and would otherwise hinder movement, such as the armpits or or the inner gap between forearm and upper arm armor. The chainmail, while not as good as plate, is nonetheless, far better than nothing good chain mail is extremely difficult to cut into and quality chainmail may prevent some piercing attacks.
Voiders can also be stitched onto the shoulders, sides and along the armpit of a gambeson or some leather armors to improve the defensive quality of the garment.
