This type of collar was popular during the 14th to 16th centuries and because it resembled something worn by the Catholic clergy, it earned the nickname “Bishop’s Mantle”. Authentically designed after the chainmail armor style widespread in the Middle Ages which incorporated an interlocking metal ring pattern, this piece features titanium dome-riveted flat rings. Each ring has an 18 gauge thickness and measures 9 mm in diameter. For extra comfort and protection, a leather collar serves as a base for the chainmail to be stitched upon. To ensure a perfect fit, adjustable brass buckles and leather straps are included. While this titanium piece looks like regular steel chainmail, it has an advantage of being lighter and a bit easier to move in.
