Description
This Windlass hand axe bears the distinct features of Norse hatchets favored by Viking warriors and craftsmen alike. The head is forged from a single piece of X46Cr13 high-grade stainless steel, hardened to 52 RC, striking a balance between toughness and edge retention. Its blade shape and weight would have made it a dependable tool for both woodwork and combat. The handle is carved from Sissoo, a dense hardwood from North India, shaped to fit the hand comfortably and finished with a genuine bone butt cap. These materials reflect the practical and durable choices of Norse smiths, who crafted their tools from what was strong and available. Along the handle, Norse-style engravings are deeply etched on both sides, while the bone cap bears the image of Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir,a powerful symbol of protection among the Vikings. The axe is accompanied by a leather belt sheath, ready for wear or display. Measuring 10 inches overall with a 2-1/2 inch axe face, it balances portability with function.
