Description

Circa 1300

This sword, its remnants preserved within the Museum of London, was recovered from the River Thames as it winds through the city. The original blade, forged in the early 14th century, speaks to the skill of medieval smiths who sought a careful balance between strength and flexibility, essential qualities for a weapon meant to endure the rigors of battle. Our replica follows this tradition, crafted from tempered 1095 high carbon steel, a material chosen for its toughness and capacity to maintain a sharp edge through prolonged use. The grip is made from wood wrapped in leather, offering a firm hold consistent with the period’s design. The accompanying scabbard, fitted with decorative metalwork, reflects the style that would have shielded the blade from damage during both travel and combat.
