Description
This long hooded white cape is fashioned from sturdy polyester fabric, made to resemble the garb worn by the Teutonic Knights. The black velvet cross sewn over the left forearm marks the wearer’s allegiance to the order,a symbol that would have stood out on the battlefield, both as a sign of faith and a rallying point for comrades. The cape fastens at the front with leather rondels attached to a frog closure, secured by snaps. Such a fastening method allowed knights to don and doff their outerwear quickly while maintaining freedom of movement during combat or on campaign. The attached hood offers protection against wind and rain, much like the practical garments knights would have relied upon during long marches and harsh weather in medieval times. This piece is displayed here alongside a matching Teutonic Knight’s tunic. One size fits most.
- Overall length: 52″
Fun fact: The distinctive black cross of the Teutonic Knights began as a simple field sign to distinguish their warriors in the chaos of battle, later becoming the enduring emblem we recognize today.
