Description
This Templar Sword from Windlass Steelcrafts features a blunt-edged blade with a rounded, thickened tip designed specifically for stage and theatrical combat, as well as sport combat. The blade’s edges are intentionally dulled throughout to ensure safety during practice and performance. Forged from 1065 high carbon steel, the blade is tempered for flexibility and resilience, then securely mounted into the pommel using a traditional peened hilt construction, a method that has been trusted by smiths for centuries to keep the sword firmly assembled under rigorous use.
The crossguard and pommel are fashioned from solid steel, providing balance and protection to the wielder’s hand. The grip is crafted from wood and wrapped in stitched black leather, offering a comfortable and secure hold. Etched on both sides of the pommel is the distinctive Cross, a symbol closely associated with the Templar knights. This sword comes with a thick leather scabbard, reinforced with a steel locket and chape, designed to protect the blade when not in use and to add to the historical authenticity of the piece.
Fun fact: Templar knights underwent rigorous combat training not only with sharp weapons but also with blunt training swords similar to this one, allowing them to practice deadly techniques safely while preparing for the realities of battle.
