Description
This sword replica draws inspiration from a well-known blade of legend, fashioned to reflect the craftsmanship of a skilled smith. The blade, measuring 23.42 inches, is forged from stainless steel and polished smooth, with a blood groove running down its length. This fuller not only lightens the blade but also echoes traditional design choices meant to improve balance and reduce weight without compromising strength.
The handle, carved from hardwood and measuring just over 10 inches, is wrapped tightly in cord to provide a firm, reliable grip, essential for wielding the sword with precision. The guard, at 6.5 inches, offers protection to the hand while maintaining proper balance, a crucial factor in the sword’s handling characteristics.
Accompanying the blade is a sturdy hardwood scabbard, wrapped in leather to protect the sword when not in use and to allow for ease of carrying. The fittings, fashioned from polished zinc alloy, add a touch of refinement and durability to the overall piece, securing the components together much like rivets and collars did on historical swords.
