Description
The M-1905 Bayonet was introduced to serve alongside the Model 1903 Rifle, forged with the brutal demands of early 20th-century trench warfare in mind. When close-quarters fighting became a grim necessity, production was established at both Springfield Armory and Rock Island Arsenal. Rock Island produced just under half a million of these bayonets, making originals from there a rare find today.
This reproduction takes its cue from an original 1906 model, the first year Rock Island Arsenal crafted these blades. Early M-1905 bayonets bore bright, polished blades paired with blued steel hilts. The ricasso carries the “RIA 1906” stamp, a mark faithfully reproduced here. The design is straightforward and practical, built to withstand the mud, grit, and relentless wear soldiers faced in the trenches. These bayonets stand as a testament to the rugged, no-nonsense approach to infantry gear of the era.
Included is an early-pattern scabbard, made from wood and wrapped in canvas, with a metal throat reinforcing the opening to prevent wear. The Krag-style hanger, crafted from sturdy canvas, secures the bayonet firmly to a soldier’s belt. This set is crafted as a faithful homage to the original, finished with a factory edge, ready for display or hands-on study of battlefield equipment.
