Description
In the sweltering, humid jungles of the Pacific during WWII, leather grips on many fighting knives quickly deteriorated, becoming slick and unreliable. One resourceful US Navy sailor turned to the wreckage of downed Japanese Zero fighters, salvaging aluminum to forge new grips. These aluminum handles were not only sturdy but also featured distinctive designs, the skull-shaped pommel served as a brutal impact tool, while the cobra-shaped finger guard offered protection and a fierce silhouette. This reproduction pays tribute to that ingenuity, with a blade forged from high carbon steel, carefully tempered to strike a balance between toughness, resilience, and edge retention. The grip is crafted from authentic aluminum, just as the original sailor fashioned them from aircraft scrap.
The knife comes with a top-grain leather sheath, built to fit belts up to 3″ wide, reflecting the practical gear carried by servicemen in the Pacific theater.
