Description
The Claymore sword was a staple weapon among Highland warriors during the late 15th and 16th centuries. Its hilt design is distinctive, setting it apart from other greatswords of the era. With a blade length typical of longswords, it was capable of delivering wide, sweeping cuts as well as strong, precise thrusts. The hilt features sloping quillons ending in quatrefoil shapes, a high-collared quillon block, and langets that run along the fuller of the blade, elements characteristic of traditional Scottish craftsmanship.
This version of the Scottish Claymore reflects these historic design traits. Unlike many reproductions that tend to be heavy and unbalanced, this sword maintains a slim, leather-wrapped grip that fits comfortably in the hand. The pommel is shaped and sized to align with historical examples, providing proper balance and handling. Historically, warriors often carried their Claymores slung over the shoulder rather than in sheaths, so this piece is presented without one.
