Description
The Schiavona style sword bears a rich history throughout Europe, yet it gained particular favor among the Venetian mercenaries, known as the Schiavoni. Its design speaks to the demands of close-quarters combat and reflects the martial traditions of Venice’s infantrymen, who valued both protection and agility on the battlefield.
This example is forged from high carbon steel, a choice prized for its toughness and ability to hold an edge through the rigors of battle. The guard and scabbard fittings show a darkened, worn finish, giving the sword the look of one that has seen many campaigns. The grip is wrapped in black leather, worn smooth for a steady hold, while the pommel is fashioned from antique brass to provide balance and a touch of historical authenticity. The half basket-hilt guard is carefully crafted and decorated with 26 antique brass florets, each echoing the floral patterns common in Renaissance armory. Floral engravings on the throat and tip of the black leather scabbard complement the sword’s overall design, tying the piece together visually and functionally.
The blade can be sharpened on request and personalized with up to three initials.
