Description
This is the Guardian of the Dragon Oasis Samurai Japanese Katana Sword, a blade forged with care and tradition. The blade stretches 26.75 inches, crafted from high carbon steel that bears a visible hamon, the temper line that tells the story of its differential hardening. This line is not merely decoration but a mark of the blade’s strength and flexibility, a balance every smith strives to achieve. The edge comes slightly sharpened, true to the practice of leaving final honing to the wielder.
The saya, or scabbard, is made from solid wood and finished in a dull blue speckled pattern, evoking the calm depths of an oasis. Wrapped around it is a traditional bull horn sageo cord, used for securing the sword when worn or hung. The scabbard throat is reinforced with an aluminum alloy fitting, finished in black and etched with detailed scenes that recall the tales of dragons , protectors and symbols of power in Japanese lore.
The handle, or tsuka, is wooden and wrapped in black nylon cord fashioned in the classic braided style, providing a firm grip and echoing centuries of samurai craftsmanship. At the pommel, a black zinc alloy cap is shaped into a dragon, guarding the hilt much like the sword’s namesake. The tsuba, or guard, is cast in black aluminum zinc alloy and features a traditional two-dragon oval design, offering both protection and a connection to the mythic guardians revered by warriors.
A decorative black habaki, the blade collar, secures the blade within the handle, ensuring it stays firmly in place during use. This small but vital piece also channels the spirit of the sword, binding the blade and hilt as one.

Fun fact: The hamon on a samurai sword is created by coating the spine of the blade with a special clay mixture before quenching. This causes the edge to harden quickly while the spine cools more slowly, giving the blade its characteristic curve and resilience, qualities revered by warriors for centuries.
