The Russian Boyar Battle Helmet is modeled after one of the most popular designs that entered Russia during the Middle Ages. It earned notoriety for being lightweight and less cumbersome than other head gear and quickly spread throughout Europe. This style was sported by Russian nobles and also gained favor with infantry and cavalry troops. Additionally, this helmet type paved the way for the emergence of others to come. Authentically designed after the original, this fine reproduction features 18 gauge steel construction and has a detachable butted mail aventail that guards the shoulders and neck while a nasal strip protects the nose. For further enhancement, soft interior leather lining ensures a comfortable fit. Fully functional with true Russian flavor, this helmet is great for costumes, re-enactments, and displays.
