Description
Roman helmet of the “Imperial Gallic” type dating back to the mid of the Ist century A.D. topped with a red horsehair crest. It is put on a crest, longitudinally fixed to the helm’s top by a fork-shaped plume holder, a detailed reconstruction of the original. It has pivotable cheekpieces with bosses and lowered neck plate. Entirely made in burnished iron (18 gauge steel) with details in brass-plated metal.
This Imperial Roman Gallic “G” Centurion Helmet is constructed from 18 gauge steel with brass accents. The interior of the helm is blackened and unlined; included with the helm is a separate padded cotton arming cap. The hinged cheekplates have two small rings that can be used to tie a chin strap onto (chin strap included). This helm has a horsehair crest and a brass crest holder; the crest and its holder can be removed if desired. Included are leather cords that can be used to tie down and stabilize the helm to the holes in the visor dome rivets.
This helm can be converted to having a front-to-back crest alignment by using a crest holder intended for a front to back crest (not included – must be purchased separately). The two brass hooks atop the helm can be used to tie down and secure a front-to-back crest. Due to the hand-made nature of this item, slight differences in size and finish can be expected, making it a truly unique one of a kind collector’s piece.
