Description
The Coolus ‘E’ (Walbrook) made by Deepeeka is an accurate replica ornate based off historical research and authentic in its design. The second known group of helmets, was the Coolus variety, which covered the period 3rd century BC to at least 79AD. These were based on a Gallic form of helmet made in the Coolus district of Marne. In form they were a simple hemispherical bowl made out of bronze with a reinforcing peak running horizontally across the brow and with a larger extension at the back as a neck guard. This Roman Coolus Helmet is constructed from 18 gauge brass and fitted with hinged cheekplates. It also has an integrated plume holders on its sides, and the top spike is notched to allow it to be used to hold a second plume. The inside of the helmet is blackened and unlined and the cheekplates have rings to tie a leather chin strap to (chin strap not included). Also included with the helm is a separate padded cotton arming cap.
