These wrist guards, known as vambraces, were crafted to shield the forearms of a Roman officer during the chaos of battle. Forged from sturdy steel and overlaid with brass plating, the metal bears a weathered patina that echoes the look of authentic pieces used by Roman soldiers. Each vambrace measures about 7 inches in length, designed to cover the forearm without hindering movement. Inside, a lining of soft suede cushions the arm, preventing chafing and absorbing sweat. Thick leather thongs are woven through the edges, allowing the wearer to secure the vambraces tightly, ensuring they stay in place amid the clash of combat. Such armor was vital for deflecting glancing blows and reducing the risk of cuts, while still allowing the soldier to wield weapons freely.
