Description
This Centurion Gladius bears a blade hand-forged and tempered from high carbon steel, forged to withstand the rigors of close-quarters fighting as Roman officers would have known. Its blade shape and balance are true to the original design, optimized for both stabbing and cutting amid the chaos of battle.
The hilt and fittings are crafted from solid wood, treated to evoke the aged look of ancient arms, and reinforced with metal accents that reflect the straightforward, practical style of Roman military gear. The matching baldric and custom wood scabbard are wrapped in leather and accented with metalwork, offering both protection for the blade and a means of carrying it securely, just as a soldier of Rome would have worn it on campaign.
Fun fact: The Roman Centurion’s gladius was more than a weapon,it was a badge of authority, carried by officers who led their men directly into the fray, embodying leadership on the battlefield.
