Description
When Lords were summoned to gatherings at Court,be it feasts, ceremonies, or special occasions, they donned their finest attire, crafted not only for display but to convey status and heritage. A common garment was a robe cinched at the waist, often accompanied by long decorative bands attached near the wrists, and sometimes secured at the collar with a round buckle. Alongside these garments, the Crusades influenced the widespread use of purses, which hung from belts by cords of silk or cotton, or at times by metal chains.
Belts such as the Quatrefoil Medieval Handmade Leather Belt were not mere accessories but symbols of rank and craftsmanship. This belt is constructed from sturdy leather, adorned with brass fittings fashioned into the quatrefoil design,a motif frequently seen in medieval heraldry and ecclesiastical art. The buckle, forged from solid brass, features traditional medieval patterns that would have been recognized and respected in the halls of nobility. Brass quatrefoil conchos run along the belt’s length, culminating in a decorative chape that protects the leather’s end and adds a finishing touch.
Wearing such a belt would have completed a noble’s ensemble, serving both practical and ceremonial purposes by securing garments and signaling wealth and allegiance.
