Description
This close replica of the Model 1976 Polish Army Saber accurately follows the original’s dimensions and blade markings, capturing the distinct etchings and design used by the Polish military from 1976 to 1990. The blade is forged from tempered high carbon steel, providing a strong yet flexible edge. On one side, it bears the etched inscription “HONOR I OJCZYZNA” (Honor and Fatherland), a phrase deeply rooted in Polish martial tradition that traces back to the cavalry sabers of 1917.
The hilt is cast from polished brass, just like the originals, lending both durability and a warm patina over time. The grip is crafted from wood, wrapped in black leather for a secure hold, and accented with hand-inlaid braided brass wire, a detail that not only reinforces the grip but also reflects the care given to these weapons. The blade is firmly seated into the hilt, ensuring it withstands the rigors of use. Accompanying the saber is a steel scabbard equipped with two steel hanging rings for easy carry and attachment to a uniform belt.
Fun fact: The Polish Army Saber Model 1976 was designed to be both a ceremonial and practical weapon, bridging Poland’s cavalry heritage with modern military needs during the Cold War era.
