Description
The handle is formed from compressed, stacked leather washers, carefully shaped with eight grooves that help secure a soldier’s grip, even when hands were slick with sweat, mud, or blood. A steel crossguard and pommel protect the hand while anchoring the blade’s tang firmly inside the handle, ensuring the knife could withstand the brutal demands of close-quarters fighting.
The knife comes with a reproduction top-grain leather sheath stamped “US M6 WMCO 1943,” bearing the flaming bomb symbol of the U.S. Ordnance Corps. The sheath is reinforced with blued steel hardware and tight stitching, built to endure the rigors of field service. It features a hanger for attachment to a standard web belt, slots for belts up to 2 inches wide, and a leather leg tie-down thong to keep the sheath secure during rapid movement.
- Overall length: approximately 11.7 inches
- Blade length: 6.75 inches
Fun fact: The M3 Trench Knife was originally issued to soldiers who did not carry a sidearm, giving them a compact weapon designed for silent, close combat in the cramped trenches and dense jungles where firearms were less practical.
