This replica is forged true to the original M1891 Carcano bayonet design. The blade bears a fuller, or blood groove, which serves to lighten the blade without weakening it,a practical feature for a soldier’s sidearm that balances durability with ease of carry. Forged from 1095 high carbon steel, the blade is capable of holding a sharp edge and withstanding the rigors of use. All metal parts have been blued, a traditional method that offers some protection against rust while giving the metal a muted finish. The handle scales are carved from close-grained hardwood, treated with rubbed oil to shield the wood and provide a firm, comfortable grip. The bayonet comes with its distinctive steel scabbard, fluted to add strength while keeping weight down. This bayonet is specifically made to fit the M1891 Carcano rifle and does not fit the M-1891 T.S. Carbines or the M-1938 rifles.
