Description
This holster is forged from genuine leather, fashioned as a scabbard for the carbine rifles issued during the Second World War. These rifles were a common sight slung by soldiers on horseback, strapped to jeeps, or carried in various military vehicles. The design descends from the Winchester saddle carbine scabbards of the 1870s, gradually evolving into the M-1938 model known to WWII troops. Its chief role was to guard the rifle against dirt, moisture, and rough handling while ensuring it remained within quick reach for immediate use. The holster is equipped with the original early-style brass cocking handle cover, a functional feature that shielded the rifle’s moving parts from grit and wear. Retaining all original straps and brass fittings, this piece offers an authentic look into the practical gear soldiers depended upon in the field.
- Approximately 24″ long
Fun fact: The M1 Carbine leather sheath was often fastened to saddles or vehicle frames, enabling soldiers to draw their rifles swiftly in one smooth motion during rapid maneuvers.
