Description

Well now, here’s a rare find, old Windlass blade blanks, straight from surplus stock. Each one is hand-forged from high carbon steel, the kind that holds a keen edge once properly heat-treated and finished. Because these are handmade, you might notice some small surface rust spots, marks, or scratches, signs of their long rest before being brought back to life. These blemishes won’t affect the blade’s integrity or performance once you’ve shaped and sharpened it to your liking. What’s particularly interesting is that these blades follow historic patterns taken from old ACC catalogs, making them suitable for reenactors or collectors seeking authenticity. None come sharpened, giving you full control to craft the edge exactly as you prefer. Each blade is 3/16″ thick, providing a sturdy yet workable profile. This model is a long dagger blade with a tapered full tang, partly threaded to secure the handle firmly. It features a single, narrow fuller running along the blade’s length, lightening the steel without sacrificing strength. The overall length measures 17-3/8″, with a blade length of 12-3/8″.

Fun fact: Long blade blanks like these were often the starting point for dagger construction in the medieval period, allowing smiths to tailor the blade’s final shape and balance to fit the regional fighting styles or the personal needs of the wielder.
