This Lorica Segmentata is constructed from harness-grade leather, shaped and joined to mimic the layered segments of the Roman legionary’s armor. Each leather plate is cut and riveted to allow the wearer to move freely, accommodating the demands of battle and the handling of weapons. The leather ties enable adjustment for a secure fit around the torso, reflecting the practical approach of Roman armorers who sought a balance between protection and mobility. The design accommodates sizes S/M (up to a 40″ waist and 46″ chest) and L/XL (up to a 46″ waist and 52″ chest). Fun fact: Leather versions of Lorica Segmentata were often used by Roman soldiers during training or in hot climates, as they offered better ventilation and less weight compared to their metal counterparts.
