Description
This Late Roman Centurion Helmet is made from 18 gauge steel with leather lined interior for comfort. This helm is an excellent reproduction by Deepeeka. It features a central metal crest and is similar to the light infantry helmet, probably worn by auxiliaries instead of the legions. It seems to have been based on the similar two halves “ridge” helmets of Rome’s enemy, the Sassanian Perisan empire.
The Late Roman Centurion Helm is constructed from 18 gauge steel; the entire interior of the helm is lined with stitched leather and finished with an internal, adjustable leather suspension liner. The cheekplates and neck plate are integrated onto the helm with riveted leather hinges. Due to the hand-made nature of this item, slight differences in size and finish can be expected, making it a truly unique one of a kind collector’s piece.
