Description
Since 1943, these Kukris have been forged by a dedicated government contractor,Windlass Steelcrafts, upholding a tradition born from the harsh demands of military service. Each blade is crafted from high carbon steel, hand-shaped to achieve the precise balance and toughness required for both heavy chopping and fine cutting tasks. The Kukri comes with its regulation sheath, designed to shield the blade and allow swift access when needed in the field.
This sturdy knife serves as the standard issue for Gurkha Officers in India, carrying significance beyond its utility. The handle, carved from genuine buffalo horn, is shaped to fit the hand securely, ensuring a reliable grip during use. Brass fittings on the pommel and bolster add durability while reflecting the Kukri’s long-standing heritage. Alongside the main blade are two smaller utility knives, traditionally employed for detailed work or everyday tasks.
Fun fact: Kukris issued to officers often feature subtle design variations, such as engraved brass fittings or distinctive handle shapes, marking rank and adding a personal touch to this iconic weapon.
