Description
This medieval dagger stands as a fitting companion to the Accolade sword, fashioned to echo the martial spirit of the Knights Templar. The blade is forged from high carbon steel, known for its strength and ability to hold a keen edge, essential qualities for close-quarters combat. Etched onto the ricasso is the seal of the Knights Templar, a mark of their order and solemn vows. The crossguard and pommel are plated in sterling silver, which offers some resistance to corrosion and presents a bright contrast to the blade’s steel. The pommel bears an inlaid cross, a constant reminder of the knight’s sacred duty. The grip is wrapped in soft leather, reinforced with wire to ensure a firm hold even when the heat of battle makes hands sweat. Its leather sheath is adorned with two silver-plated crosses and includes a leather thong to secure the dagger by the handle. The sheath features a loop wide enough to fit onto the Accolade scabbard belt or any belt up to 2-3/4″ in width, making it practical for carrying at one’s side. This dagger is sharpened and ready for use, reflecting the practical demands of a knight’s sidearm. Crafted with attention to both function and symbolism, it embodies the spirit of Templar weaponry.
Fun fact: The Knights Templar often used daggers like this one not only as weapons but also as part of the accolade ceremony, where a squire was knighted by receiving a symbolic tap or blow on the shoulder with the flat of a sword or dagger.
