David, the second king of Israel, is remembered not only as a ruler but as a warrior whose faith and courage shaped his legacy. Beyond his role as king and psalmist, it was his youthful encounter with Goliath that sealed his place in history. When the Philistine giant challenged the Israelite army to single combat, David stepped forward armed only with his sling and stones, trusting in his belief rather than sword and shield. With a well-aimed stone, he felled the giant, turning the tide of battle and sending the Philistines into retreat. To mark his victory and the power of faith, David drew his sword and beheaded Goliath,a potent symbol that faith and skill in battle walk hand in hand.

The sword attributed to King David is a notable example of martial craftsmanship that balances function with symbolic meaning. Now preserved in the Topkapi Palace collection, this weapon has been carefully recreated by hand, replicating the features of the original. The blade measures 101 cm in length and is forged from high carbon steel, finished with an aged patina to suggest the passage of centuries. Its broad, straight blade reflects the practical design suited for cutting and thrusting in close combat. The grip is fashioned from wood wrapped in leather to provide a firm grasp, while the pommel is silver plated and the cross guard is forged steel. An engraving near the guard shows a man holding a severed head in one hand and a sword in the other,an iconic depiction of David’s victory over Goliath.

This sword carries the title “sword of the prophets,” bearing inscriptions in Arabic honoring the names of David, Solomon, Moses, Aaron, Joshua, Zachariah, John, Jesus, and Muhammad. The scabbard, constructed from wood and covered in leather, features detailed metalwork and a ribbon and sword knot woven with 24K gold thread, reflecting the original’s ornate craftsmanship. Every component of this replica is shaped and finished by hand, a demanding process requiring patience and precision over many months.

The sword is displayed in a custom padded, velvet-lined, genuine leather case, respecting its historical and spiritual significance.

Fun fact: According to tradition, King David’s sword was passed down through generations, not only as a symbol of royal authority but also as a testament to the enduring power of faith in battle.
