Description

Circa 1400’s

The Jambiya is a dagger with a pronounced curved blade, known widely across the Arab world, from the rugged mountains of Turkey and the Balkans to the sunlit coasts of Spain. Its exact beginnings are lost to time, but the style you see here draws clear influence from blades forged in Persia and India. Traditionally, a man would wear his Jambiya at the waist, slipped beneath a sash or belt, with the curve of the blade resting snugly against the stomach. The handle is carved from dense hardwood, fitted with metal rondels that serve both to secure the grip and to lend the dagger a distinctive silhouette. The scabbard is crafted from hardwood and wrapped in slender black leather, ending in a nickel cap that guards the tip from wear and protects the wearer. The blade itself is sharpened, prepared not just as a tool of defense but as a bearer of cultural identity and pride.

Fun fact: The curve of the Jambiya’s blade isn’t just for show,it aids in delivering a powerful slashing motion, making it effective in close combat while also reflecting the artistry of its maker.
