Description
This Iris Leaf folding knife from Cobra Steel takes its cues from the revered blades of Japan, carrying the spirit of the samurai’s katana and tanto into a compact form. It’s built as a practical tool, embodying the straightforward reliability and purposefulness a warrior would expect.
The blade is forged from D2 tool steel, a material prized for its toughness and resistance to wear. It features a satin finish that keeps glare to a minimum, useful when working in bright conditions or when stealth is needed. With a hardness near 59 on the Rockwell scale, this blade is able to hold a keen edge, making it suitable for tasks demanding precision and consistency. The custom laser etchings on the blade blend modern technique with a nod to traditional blade decoration.
The pivot uses stainless steel ball bearings of industrial grade, giving the opening and closing a smooth, reliable action that will stand up to frequent use. The liner is coated in titanium, enhancing both strength and resistance to corrosion. Handle scales made from G-10, a rugged composite material, are laser etched with the Cobra Steel insignia, offering a textured grip that balances comfort with control. Its slender profile and well-balanced design make it nimble in the hand, well suited for slicing or light piercing.
A satin-finished pocket clip rounds out the design, allowing the knife to be carried securely and accessed quickly. This blade carries forward the enduring legacy of Japanese swordsmithing, merging time-honored tradition with present-day practicality.
Fun fact: The Iris Leaf design is inspired by the shape of iris flower petals, symbolizing both elegance and sharp precision, qualities that mirror the samurai blades it pays tribute to.
