Description
This unique Imperial Gallic ‘C’ SISAK Helmet (complete bar the brow reinforce) was found in the River Kupa at Sisak, Croatia. It features very distinctive cheek guards and no applied ear guards. The edging of the neck guard continues around the ear opening. It is dated to the Early-mid First Century AD. The original helmet is on display at Zagreb.
The Imperial Roman Gallic ??C?? Helm is constructed from 20 gauge steel with brass accents. The cheek plates are hinged and fitted with small brass rings to tie the included leather cord chinstrap onto. A brass crest holder is riveted atop the helmet. The interior of the helmet is unlined and blackend – included with the helmet is a cotton padded arming cap.
