Description

In the realm of historical fencing, the late 19th-century Italian sabre style stands as a testament to cavalry tradition and martial discipline. This approach grew from the teachings of Giuseppe Radaelli, a Milanese fencing master who crafted techniques specifically for mounted soldiers wielding the military sabre. His methods were later honed by Salvatore Pecoraro, whose influence shaped the curriculum of the Military Masters School in Rome. The sabres made for training faithfully echo the distinctive hilts of that period, with guards fashioned from stainless steel and grips wrapped in wire over sharkskin-pattern material, offering a secure hold while honoring the historic design. The blades, forged from high-carbon, flex-tempered steel by Windlass Steelcrafts, are balanced to reflect the length and curve typical of the time. Their edges are dulled and tips rounded to ensure safe practice. Accompanying the sabre is a full metal scabbard, finished to complement the weapon’s authentic appearance.

Fun fact: The Hutton Dueling Sabre and Scabbard bear the name of William Hutton, a British fencing master whose detailed studies and teachings preserved many classical sabre techniques that might otherwise have been lost to time.
