Description
Circa 1200-1600
In the Middle Ages, hunting was no mere leisure,it was a matter of life, skill, and sustenance. A huntsman never set out without his trousse, a hunting knife set crafted to meet the harsh demands of the wild. The main blade, forged from high carbon steel, stretches 12 inches long and 2 inches wide, its edge hardened to hold sharpness for swift dispatch of game and careful dressing of the carcass. Alongside it, a smaller blade and a fork, also wrought from sturdy high carbon steel, served both practical tasks and the needs at camp. The fittings, solid steel, and the handle, hewn from polished buffalo horn, provided a grip that would not falter in wet or cold conditions, essential when every moment counted. Each piece was shaped by the blacksmith’s hands to answer the call of the hunt, blending durability and tradition.
