Description
These Hand-Stitched Men’s Drawstring Pants are made using methods passed down through generations, echoing the garment-making traditions of the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Crafted in rural India by skilled tailors and seamstresses, each pair is constructed entirely by hand from 100% hand-loomed cotton fabric. No machines are used in the process, only the steady hand and keen eye of the artisan, stitching the fabric together much as a medieval tailor would have done.
The pants come in sizes S (waist 28″-35″), M (waist 36″-41″), and L/XL (waist 42″-52″), with a length of 42″ from the drawstring waist down to the hem. Along the outside seams, a simple black cross stitch runs the length, serving both as reinforcement and a nod to traditional decorative stitching found in historic clothing. The ankle cuffs are equipped with drawstrings, allowing the wearer to tighten or loosen them as needed, practical for keeping fabric out of the way during work or travel. The larger L/XL size includes a gusset in the crotch seam, a feature that provides extra room and flexibility, especially useful for horseback riding or other active pursuits. These pants come in natural shades of Red, Blue, and Brown, colors derived from traditional dyes that would have been common in historical textile production.
Fun fact: In many medieval European societies, drawstring pants like these were popular among laborers and soldiers because the adjustable waist and ankle closures made it easier to move quickly and adapt to different physical demands during the day’s work or battle.
